Postmaster General, Punjab West Region assures to resolve the issues of IP/ASP.

Mr Vikas Sharma, Circle President, Mr Balbir Singh, Circle Secretary alongwith Mr Harjit Singh, ASP Kapurthala met Ms. Sukhvinder Kaur, Postmaster General, Punjab West Region Chandigarh today in her chamber. All the issues were discussed in detail. Madam patiently heard all the issues and assured to resolve the same. As on date there are seven vacancies of ASP cadre lying vacant in the Region on the other hand in HQ region there are only two vacant posts of ASP. Two posts have been downgraded to IP cadre. Since regular DPC for promotion to ASP cadre is in a fix, she assured to move for adhoc promotion of IP to ASP. A few members have been handling double charges for years together. She said that it is very much in her knowledge and shall certainly discontinue after allotment of ASP officials. We are quite hopeful that matter shall be resolved.

• Shri Gopal Krishan Sharma ASP (HQ) Patiala has been promoted to PS Gr B cadre on adhoc and temporary basis. He shall join as Sr Postmaster, GPO Chandigarh.

• Shri Surinder Pal (OC) has been repatriated to Punjab Circle from Army Postal Service. He will join as Asstt Supdt Posts in the Punjab Circle. Consequently, there shall be no promotion to ASP cadre from IP cadre for want of vacancy in ASP cadre. After filling up the vacancy by OC candidate, we have left with four vacancies. Two SC & Two ST. There is no official of ST Category in feeder cadre and reserved vacancies cannot be filled alone. There cannot be 100% reservation. Association welcomes Shri Surinder Pal back to his parent circle.
